JSC Participates at the Awareness Workshop on North Eastern Region Urban Development Program (NERUDP)

On 28 February 2012, four members of the JSC team participated at the session on ‘Septage Management & On-site Treatment’ held during the Awareness Workshop on North Eastern Region Urban Development Program organized by India’s Ministry of Urban Development in Aizawl, India. This event, gathering around fifty people, aimed at raising awareness and knowledge on various issues related to urban development among officials from local governments.

During the session on ‘Septage Management and On-site Treatment’, the JSC representatives introduced Japan’s experience in decentralized sanitation, strategies to extend sanitation access, explained about the needs for septage management, and Japan’s institutional and regulatory system for septage management. Among the speakers, JSC was joined by an expert from JICA Office in India who introduced JICA’s activities in the water sector in the country, and two representatives from India who focused on sanitation and septage management in Aizawl City.
