ADBI-Toyo University Spotlight Japan's Inclusive Sanitation Lessons for Asia

Japan's policy experiences for expanding city-wide inclusive sanitation and lessons for developing Asia were the focus of a multi-week ADBI-Toyo University training program in Tokyo for regional government officials and experts that concluded on 24 February. Drawing upon Japan case studies, they explored design and implementation keys for advancing sanitation projects that are environmentally, financially, and technically sustainable. They also explored challenges for applying a city-wide inclusive sanitation model in developing countries in Asia and ways to maximize its potential to enhance people's socioeconomic conditions and wellbeing.
